WHEELIE COMPETITION

Wheelies were next on the menu.  Each truck got one run at the crush cars to convince the judges it was the Wheelie King.  Remember, there is no dirt and there are no ramps at the approach to the cars in a Thunder Nationals event.  It makes for an incredible wheelstand if they hit it right.  These guys were holding nothing back in the last show of the weekend on Saturday night.

ANATOMY OF A KILLER WHEELIE

We've seen them on TV, but this is the first time we ever saw a true vertical wheelie live.  It was unbelievable!  Guy Wood rolled Bulldozer up to the first car and floored it.  The truck launched upright.  Guy worked the accelerator to perfection to walk it up over the car, and then gave it the gun again.   Bulldozer came down in the middle of the stack in absolute vertical position.   He held it for a second or two, then hit the pedal again to bring it back forward, and out over the rest of the cars to complete the run.  The crowd went crazy!   As Bulldozer drove off of the stack, you could see the red paint from the car on the tailgate.  Wild Hair came out to counter, and hit a good wheelie too, but nothing was going to beat what Guy Wood did in Bulldozer.  It was just awesome!
