XTREME ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS
MONSTER TRUCK THUNDER WORLD TOUR 2000
ROTARY PARK  LAWERENCEBURG, TN
JULY 7-8, 2000

Donny Smith & Co. decided to try their hand at promotion, and brought four great trucks to Lawerenceburg for their first show.  Bad Influence, Mercenary, Clydesdale, and Equalizer came to run in the Tennessee red clay on a hot weekend in Dixie.

David Morris, hot off a great performance at the ProMT event at Talladega, took Equalizer to the final both nights.

Bennett Clark has been racing trucks for over 20 years, and he's still one of the best in the business.  It's always a treat to watch Clydesdale perform.

If the chassis looks familiar, it should.  Jimmy Harrington is running the Dodge Mercenary body while the shop is working on the new Gator body.

Donny Smith was working on Bad Influence right up until show time.   Two days before the event, he installed a brand new new Ford 557 engine.

The Crypt Keeper ride truck was on hand in Lawerenceburg to give fans just a little taste of the real thing!

Crypt Keeper is one of the best looking ride trucks we've seen, so I took quite a few pictures.  The rides were popular all weekend.

FRIDAY NIGHT RACING

The Friday night show got started a little late, and there was no freestyle, but some competitive side-by-side racing.  It was a warmup for the Saturday night show.  Clydesdale had the fastest qualifying time at 3 seconds flat.  Equalizer was next at 3.25 seconds, followed by Mercenary at 3.8 seconds, and the first run on the new engine for Bad Influence was 4 seconds flat.  The first round of racing pitted the two fastest and two slowest qualifiers.

It was Bad Influence vs. Mercenary in the first race.  Donny Smith didn't get a chance to tune the new engine before the show, but it was rocking and rolling anyway.  Good acceleration over the cars powered Bad Influence to victory. Law00011.jpg (32348 bytes)
Next up were Equalizer and Clydesdale.  Bennett started having a little mechanical trouble with Clydesdale, and you just can't give David Morris and Equalizer an advantage.  It was Equalizer by about a half a truck length. Law00015.jpg (31443 bytes)
The final was a good one.  It was a classic Ford vs. Chevy duel.  Both trucks got a good start, but it looked  like Bad influence pulled off to the right as they hit the cars.  The race was initially given to Equalizer, which looked right from where we were sitting.   However, the next night the announcer said Bad Influence had won it.
